DESIGNING SOUNDS is founded by 43-year old German MICHAEL FAKESCH. He is a music producer, sound designer, DJ, lecturer and film music composer.
From 1995 til 2007 Michael Fakesch is 50% of the band FUNKSTÖRUNG, which is known for being one of the first bands doing IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) and Glitch Hop (a very electronic version of Hip Hop). Especially their remixes (e.g. BJÖRK, WU-TANG CLAN) and their outstanding collaborations with visual artists (e.g. THE DESIGNERS REPUBLIC, ZEITGUISED) gain worldwide fame.
Around 2005 Michael starts doing sound designs for TV and internet ads (eg TOYOTA, BMW, NIKE, LEXUS) which gets him many awards (like a Cannes Golden Lion in 2009). In 2011 Michael does the music for MTV's EMA's, which leads to numerous follow-up jobs for the TV branch (incl. eyes&ears awarded campaigns for PRO7 MAXX and SIXX). In 2014 famous director NICOLAS WINDING REFN ('Drive') asks Michael to do music for his TV ad for SAMSUNG. End of 2014 Michael composes the scores for the independent movies 'HEIST' and ‚GAME OVER’. 2015, 2016 and 2017 are his busiest years so far doing jobs for BMW, HUAWEI, HTC, NIKE, PEPSI, PHILIP MORRIS, RED BULL, TATA, VIRGIN and many many more.
Since 2008 Michael has a steady engagement as lecturer at KUNSTUNIVERSITÄT LINZ (Austria) teaching about sound design and music for motion pictures.
